This month stands solidly as a period of snow, growth, ice, a weird painful thing that my throat was doing, clown clothes, friendships, singing loudly, and singing very very quietly. Here are all the things I loved/experienced/thought about/agonized over in January 2024.
1. Cheesecake
I’ve been craving cheesecake for the past couple of months. I wanted the simplest, plainest, most affordable New York cheesecake that a girl can acquire in Oregon, which of course comes from Trader Joes. After I finally bought the cake a week or two ago, I realized that I can just eat it whole, with a fork, and I don’t have to cut it into pieces or share it with anyone. So I did that. Every morning before I left the house, I would take the cheesecake out of the fridge and eat bites of it until I was full, and then I would put it away. I did this until, sadly, one day, the cheesecake was gone, as good things often are.
